Shopping in New York is a major attraction in itself, with many of the department stores stealing the limelight, especially when they launch their Christmas windows. Some of the best (and biggest) department stores to look out for include Barneys, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

A Christmassy City

Go window shopping and you’ll be wowed by the decorations and twinkling lights, while the Rockefeller Centre ice rink offers plenty of Christmas fun. That’s not forgetting New York’s amazing holiday fairs! You could even enjoy Christmas Day in NYC.

Food, food, food!

The Big Apple is a foodies heaven! Start the day the New York way and visit Best Bagel between 7th and 8th Avenue on West 35th. Then, for lunch head to the Chelsea Market in the Meatpacking district for a selection of meals. Finally, you gotta try a burger in New York, and Black Iron Burger do the best in the city.

Soaring Sights

Take in the towering attractions of New York by looking out from the top of Rockefeller Centre - you'll enjoy a panoramic view of Manhattan's skyscrapers. Of course, you can't forget the iconic Statue of Liberty, as well as a trip to the famous Time Square lit up with huge neon banners and hosting zany street performers.

Stroll the Brooklyn Bridge

So many see the city from the soaring skyscrapers, but for the best views of Downtown Manhattan, you need to head to the Brooklyn Bridge. Get the subway across to Brooklyn, then walk back across and enjoy incredible views of the city as you go.

Explore Central Park

Framed by soaring skyscrapers, Central Park is a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. You’ll easily fill a day here. Ramble through the 36 acres of winding trails, visit the Central Park Zoo, snap a picture with the Alice in Wonderland statue, skate at Wollman Rink… the list goes on!

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

You’ll be in store for a bargain when you visit New York over Thanksgiving! That’s because entire districts of shops across SoHo, Nolita and Madison Avenue slash their prices for the biggest shopping event of the year – Black Friday. You could also see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.

Unforgettable Events

Visit the retro funfair of Coney Island and the huge Bronx Zoo on a fun-packed trip. Join the festivities for Christmas at the Union Square Holiday Market or watch the iconic Times Square Ball drop and party the night away on New Year’s Eve.

Walk the High Line

A story of New Yorkers coming together to show their love for the city, the High Line is an under-the-radar Big Apple classic. The elevated freight line was due for demolition, but the people of the neighbourhood fought to keep it, and turned it into a public park in 2009. Now, stretching through Chelsea and the Meatpacking District, you’ll find art, food and drink and amazing views of the city.
