The resort

Known for its reliable snowfall and idyllic views, the Lermoos region is home to a cluster of slopes best suited to newbies and mid-level skiers. There’s a terrain park for snowboarders, but it’s mostly focused around skiing – so much so, you can even get out on the snow at night on Thursdays! It’s a traditional town with wooden chalets and toboggan routes nestled between forested hillsides.

Perfect pistes

Trudge through the thick beds of snow and you’ll find nursery slopes for the youngsters and lifts ready to escort you higher up the piste. Families can take advantage of the ski school, whilst seasoned pros can blitz the bright white runs. Lermoos is great for mid-range abilities, also with a terrain park to keep snowboarders happy. It’s not too tricksy, but worth checking out the jumps.

Link up

Drift or ride at pace down the interconnecting slopes of the Zugspitze region. Lermoos is a great base, but you could turn it up a notch and cross over to Garmisch. Speed down ridges of icy snow as the slopes get more challenging, and breathe in the quintessentially Austrian scenery as you get to grips with what these linking resorts offer.

Head out

The nightlife is pretty steady in Lermoos, but you’re still guaranteed a good time when it comes to après-ski. You’ll find your typical pint-pulling pubs with a modest dancefloor for letting your hair down off the slopes, but there are various eateries if you fancy an evening meal out before lazing in front of the fire.

The highlights

  • Fantastic slopes for beginners and intermediates.
  • Interconnecting runs to other resorts within the Zugspitze zone.
  • Informal après-ski scene with plenty of chilled pubs, cafés and restaurants.
