The resort

This laid-back, low-key resort combines the greatness of both French and Italian skiing. Since 1907, it’s been a snow trap for beginners and intermediates, where idyllic forests shape the runs. The pistes don’t often get too crowded, so they’re fab for families. It’s even got an amazing snow record, to say it gets 300 sunshine days a year!

Sharpen up your skills

Montgenèvre is the place to be for beginners and intermediates. If you’re just starting out or have young pioneers in tow, head to Les Gondrans nursery slope. Mid-level skiers can weave through the wooded areas to Clavière, while hardened pros can go off-piste or check out the spoils of the Milky Way’s slopes – some go above 2,500m! The dedicated snow park nails epic terrain.

The best of both worlds – and more!

Here, you’ll have the option to ski across both countries, which is excellent for seasoned skiers hoping to hone their tricks. Montgenèvre is part of a compact area, where your lift passes can transport you across the Milky Way, so you can enjoy endless skiing possibilities in Clavière, Sansicario, Sestrière and Sauze d’Oulx. Why not set your sights on champion-standard slopes across these bigger neighbours?

All the winter wonders

There’s a whole heap to get up to off the slopes! Discover the chapels and forts in the historic town of Briançon, or go sleigh riding or tobogganing. The fun continues when night falls – the floodlit ice rink and cinema make evenings extra special. Later, get stuck into French and Italian cuisine. Winter warmers include raclette, fondue and pizza! The cured meats are divine, too.

The highlights

  • Brilliant range of routes for newbies and intermediates.
  • Connects to the wider Milky Way ski area.
  • Excellent choice of budget-friendly French and Italian restaurants.
