The resort

You’re guaranteed a great time on the slopes in Breuil-Cervinia. This classic Italian resort sits to the south of the mighty Matterhorn and has all kinds of alpine touches. The snowfall’s reliable, making these groomed runs particularly epic for glacier skiing, and you’ll be well looked after if you’re a beginner or more accomplished, mid-level snow-goer.

Zone out in Zermatt

Breuil-Cervinia is particularly excellent if you’re just starting out or have a bit of experience. There are various sweeping runs to try out, but it would be well worth venturing over to the neighbouring resort slopes for more choice. Veer off near Zermatt and enjoy more challenging runs on the Swiss side, as well as jagged terrain for hardened skiers – not to mention top drawer scenery!

More on the snow

This isn’t just an ideal pick for skiers and snowboarders – if you fancy a bit more adventure on the slopes, you’re in luck. Slalom down quiet red runs or test your tricks in the terrain park. But it gets more thrilling yet – there’s ice karting, snow scootering and even heli-skiing! Off the snow, hit the ice rink, indoor pools and spas.

Get your dancing shoes on

As nightlife goes, this is one of Italy’s most buzzing, from dusk ‘til dawn. Beyond the 18 restaurants serving pizza, gourmet cuisine and local favourites, there’s the famous Yeti Bar, discos run by relentless DJs and your average pubs if you just want a pint of Guinness or two.

The highlights

  • Linked to the Zermatt skiing areas.
  • Great groomed runs for intermediate-levels as well as families.
  • Animated nightlife scene.
