The resort

Hailed the ‘Queen of the Dolomites’, this glamorous resort is ideal for winter sports, shopping and dining. Within the region, you’ll have three major areas to check out: Tofane, Cristallo and Faloria, each with perks for certain skill levels. Thanks to one all-access ski pass, you can also hit the incredible Dolomiti Superski slopes.

Let it snow

With excellent snowmaking facilities, you can career down the mountains until as late as April – and here, you’ll really want to! From the legendary tough descents of Tofane to the baby park of Mietres, there’s something for everyone. Go off-piste, hit the snowboard rails, or even stay late and ski at night when the town’s all lit up.

A big name in the game

Forged as the site for the 1956 Winter Olympics, this glittering network of pistes has been a platform for snow sports for decades, so you’re in the right place if you want a great patch for practice. In fact, it’s such a super skiing choice, it’s set to be the host of the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

Chic streets

Despite its reputation as a sought-after après-ski destination, there’s no jostling through busy crowds here. Amble through town and shop the Corso Italia’s range of boutiques and stores, discover the church and pretty buildings, and end your evenings in atmospheric piano bars and bright discos. Don’t miss out on snapping photos of those glowing, dusky pink sunsets, too.

The highlights

  • The Ampezzo Valley provides glorious cinematic scenery.
  • With 12 Dolomiti Superski regions nearby, you’ll have even more choice.
  • The fashionable town centre is a haven for keen shoppers.
