Newcastle to Krakow now on sale until January 2012

Prices start from £29.99 one way including taxes, with Jet2holidays city breaks from £249

The leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, has extended its popular flights from Newcastle Airport to Krakow into January 2012.

The flights, which were due to end for the season in October, will now continue twice a week until 2 January, giving travellers from the North East the chance to see Poland’s second largest city at its most festive in the run up to Christmas. Flights start from just £29.99 one way including taxes.

Those looking for a city break can enjoy a great value ATOL protected holiday from sister company Jet2holidays, from just £249 per person, based on two people sharing for three nights in a 3* bed and breakfast. Savvy holidaymakers can even save an additional £100 on their well earned break if they book before 4 July 2011.

Krakow is a city packed full of beautiful historic buildings and is famed for its fantastic nightlife. The region attracts more visitors than anywhere else in Poland and is one of Europe's architectural gems, with its attractive churches, palaces and the popular Old Town.

Ian Doubtfire, managing director of Jet2.com, commented: “Krakow is a very popular route from Newcastle so we are delighted to be able to extend the season until after Christmas, so holidaymakers can see the city when it’s transformed into a Winter Wonderland! It offers such great variety – from history and culture to a lively nightlife – it really is a destination which appeals to everyone.”

For those after some real festive spirit, Krakow’s Christmas Market begins at the end of November in the Rynek square. Wrap up warm and enjoy the delicious mulled wine and local delicacies, whilst completing your Christmas shopping with ease from the dozens of interesting stalls.

If you are a music lover, Krakow is also famed for its festivals and live events. The extended flight schedule will allow people from the North East to enjoy November’s Zaduszki Festival, Europe’s oldest jazz festival, and December’s Opera Viva Festival, which takes place in the beautiful Slowacki Theatre.
