Leading leisure airline Jet2.com stepped in at the last minute to help local gymnast Olivia Leonard realise her dream to take part in the British NDP Acrobatic Championships.
On holiday in Spain with her family, the nine year old from Menston, Ilkley was on course to miss the biggest day of her gymnastic life so far until her and her mum were flown free of charge by Jet2.com from Malaga to Leeds Bradford for the tournament in Stoke-on Trent.
Olivia and her gymnast partner, Annie Cornish (age 10), both members of Harrogate Gymnastics Club, finished 7th in the Grade 1 Pairs competition but it was a huge achievement to reach the final to compete against teams from all over England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Olivia, who took up gymnastics three years ago following in her elder sister’s footsteps, took time out to thank Jet2.com for their generosity before flying back to Spain to finish her holiday! She said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Jet2.com, they made our dream possible.”
