Kefalonia has several absolutely stunning sights formed by the natural landscape. Visit Melissani Cave to see sunlight streaming into the cavern and lighting up the underground lake. You can also head to the beautiful Drogarati Cave or take a boat trip around Koutavos Lagoon.
The coastline of Kefalonia is often a vision of paradise. So much so, that it has even played a starring role in both the book and film of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Myrtos Beach is one of the most famous shorelines on the island, thanks to its steep white cliffs that meet the dazzlingly bright azure seafront.
Even in Argostoli, the island’s capital, Kefalonia has a relaxed pace. However, explore the island more and you’ll find tiny inland villages that offer true peace and quiet. Be sure to visit Fiskardo, a fishing village on the northern tip of the island, while Assos is nestled on a peninsula surrounded by sea.
