As one of the world’s oldest cities, you can only imagine how many layers of history there are to peel back here. See everything from ruins and relics to temples and time-worn treasures. You’ll certainly get to tick off lots of boxes on that sightseeing bucket list.
Athens was the very first city to be awarded the coveted title of European Capital of Culture back in 1985. It was also the first modern home of those famous sporting games, so you can expect to see iconic traces of the event dotted throughout the city.
As the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel, dominates the city, you can admire its beauty from far and wide. From sunrise to sunset, it’s simply stunning. Team that with cool street art and distant sea vistas and you’ve got yourself the perfect place to capture some seriously dreamy photographs!
