Pal-Arinsal ski resort

Tucked away in the snow-dusted Pyrenees, Pal-Arinsal is a popular pick in Andorra. Linked by a panoramic cable car, the twin sectors of Pal and Arinsal create one connected ski area. That means you’ll have access to 63km of pistes, spanning everything from wide beginner runs to forest-lined reds. It’s fab for both learners and intermediates, thanks to the exceptional ski schools, modern lifts and quiet slopes. More confident skiers and boarders can explore the freeride zones or hop over to nearby Ordino-Arcalís, also included on the Vallnord pass.

Off the mountain, Arinsal’s compact village centre buzzes with character. When it comes to accommodation, you can expect a mix of family-run hotels and self-catering apartments. The après is famously friendly too. Think tapas bars and lively après spots where you can dance in your ski boots or settle in by a log fire. Bit of a foodie? Most restaurants are on the main Carretera General. This resort’s also a big hit with families, as there’s plenty to keep all ages entertained. Plus, children under five can get a free lift pass! On an evening, who’s for bowling or a trip to the games arcade at the Hotel Princesa Parc?

The location

Set high in north-west Andorra near the Spanish border, Pal-Arinsal sits among the dramatic peaks of the Pyrenees. Despite its wild mountain backdrop, it’s surprisingly easy to reach – around three hours from Barcelona Airport. The resort’s two sectors, Pal and Arinsal, are connected by a gondola, making it simple to explore the full area. Arinsal sits at around 1550m, while Pal lies slightly lower in a sheltered, tree-lined bowl. This compact, friendly base has all the essentials – ski hire and schools, bars and restaurants – all without the hefty price tag.

Family fun

Pal-Arinsal was made for families. Easy slopes, friendly ski schools and English-speaking instructors make learning stress-free, while childcare options and gentle beginner zones keep everyone happy. Off the pistes, families can enjoy tobogganing and pizza nights in welcoming restaurants.

Arinsal après

Arinsal’s has plenty to shout about when it comes to its après scene. Buzzy terrace bars, pub quizzes, and live music are all part and parcel. Start your evening at Cisco’s or El Cabin Bar, then move on to the Derby Irish Pub.

Adventures for all

Even if you’re not strapping on skis, Pal-Arinsal has stacks in store. Ride the cable car for pinch-me views, explore snowshoe trails through pine forests or unwind with a hot chocolate at a mountain café. For a cultural twist, take a day trip to Andorra la Vella’s spas and boutiques.
