Here at Jet2, we know that holidays are amazing. We also know they need to be more sustainable, so we can keep enjoying trips for the long term. That’s why we’re taking firm action, now and in the future, to reduce our environmental impact and be a responsible business.
By booking with us, you’re booking with the only UK airline to pay for every tonne of carbon emitted when we fly. Plus, over the last decade, we’ve worked hard to reduce our emissions through an $18bn investment in new, more fuel-efficient planes, a plastic reduction scheme and a ground service equipment electrification programme.
But now we’re doing even more.
Our ‘Jet2 Journey to Net Zero’ strategy considers sustainability across your journey – on the ground and in the air. And it’ll help us reach our target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Improved emissions intensity
We’re ranked 4th lowest airline in the world for CO2 grams per RPK*
Investing in new aircraft
Newer and more efficient planes into our fleet
Fuelling our planes from household waste
We’ve invested in a new sustainable aviation fuel plant
Reduction in plastic
We’ve stopped using millions of single-use plastics on our planes
Going electric
More than half of our ground service equipment is powered by electricity

In a nutshell, we contribute to carbon offsetting. Put simply, this is where we pay to reduce greenhouse gas emissions somewhere else, to compensate for the emissions we generate. Some of our carbon is covered by government emissions schemes, UK and EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and CORSIA, but we also voluntarily pay for every other tonne of carbon emitted by our flights, as well as emissions from our buildings’ energy use, and even our ETS free allowances. In 2023, this will total approximately 1.2 million tonnes.
Our strategy considers sustainability across your journey – on the ground and in the air.
