The Jet2holidays’ West Yorkshire School Games 2013 will take place on Tuesday 2nd July 2013 at the Leeds Metropolitan University in Headingley, where 1,200 young people from the best school teams in the region will compete in 11 sports to be crowned county champions.

Run by West Yorkshire Sport, the West Yorkshire School Games 2013, sponsored by Leeds-based Jet2holidays, is part of the Sainsbury’s School Games, an Olympic legacy programme that aims to bring together thousands of young people in school sports competitions.

Steve Curran, Chair of the Local Organising Committee said: “As the Head teacher at Tong High School, I have seen first hand the important role sports can play in school life, enhancing school values and raising standards of pupils’ achievements.”

Nigel Harrison, CEO of WYSport said: “Competition is vital to school sport and these games give our young athletes a chance to enjoy the excitement of a major sporting event. It’s great to be working with an organisation like Jet2holidays, its support will help us get more young people enjoying sport.”

Steve Heapy, Chief Executive Officer of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “Congratulations to all the teams that took part in the Tag Rugby Finals today, it’s been a fantastic day and we wish everyone taking part in the West Yorkshire School Games in July the best of luck in the competition! We’re delighted to be sponsoring the county finals this year and encouraging families to keep fit, get outdoors and be active together.

“We’re inviting everyone to join us at our tent on 2nd July 2013, where we are giving one lucky family the chance to enter a free prize draw to win a fun-filled holiday to Andalucía. We’ll also be offering advice on a range of holidays available to this beautiful Spanish region and beyond with Jet2holidays.”
