Recruitment, Announcements

We are always looking at ways to develop and improve the experience for our customers, and we are investing heavily at Manchester Airport to do this.

On the back of the continued growth of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays at the airport, we have taken the decision to move all ramp-handling services, which were previously operated by WFS, in-house. This means that in addition to transferring 66 WFS employees, over 100 new jobs will be created, including 30 Ramp Agent and 70 Baggage Loader positions by Summer 2017. The announcement means that we are better positioned to deliver a fantastic end-to-end experience for our flight-only and Jet2holidays package holiday customers.

This is in addition to the opening of our brand-new hangar at Manchester Airport, which created 120 new jobs and means we are better supporting our growing operations at the airport. The site, covering 6,000 square metres, allows our engineering and maintenance teams to simultaneously work on up to three aircraft at the same time. The hangar also provides additional office space and an engineering training facility.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “We have enjoyed huge growth since we started operating from Manchester Airport in 2004, and will operate more than 200 flights a week during the peak season in summer 2017. To support this growing operation and to provide the best experience for the 2.1 million Jet2.com and Jet2holidays customers who travel from Manchester Airport with us every year, we are making significant investments into our operation. This announcement today means we are building on our award-winning service and will be delivering an even better end-to-end customer experience for our customers at Manchester Airport.”

Ken O’Toole, CEO of Manchester Airport, said: “It is pleasing to see Jet2.com invest further in their operations at Manchester Airport.

“In recent years Jet2.com has grown significantly at Manchester, the UK’s third biggest airport, and offers our 25m annual passengers a wealth of excellent routes and holiday destinations.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with Jet2.com as we move into the New Year and beyond.”
