Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks have taken off to the magical city of Tallinn for the first time this morning (Thursday 27th November), signalling the launch of the brand-new Christmas Market destination for the Winter 25/26 season.
The launch of festive flights and city breaks to Tallinn from Edinburgh Airport today marks the start of twice weekly flights (Thursday and Sunday) departing from the airport base until 21st December 2025.
To celebrate the brand-new destination and help holidaymakers get into the Christmas spirt, the companies handed out cupcakes to customers as they waited to board Jet2’s first flight to the capital of Estonia.
Tomorrow (Friday 28th November), the companies will launch two weekly services (Monday and Friday) from both Birmingham and Manchester Airports, offering customers and independent travel agents great choice when it comes to enjoying festivities in the Estonian city. Flights from Birmingham Airport will operate until 22nd December 2025, with services departing from Manchester Airport up until 2nd January 2026.
At the heart of Estonia’s capital city, Tallinn’s Christmas markets put on a spectacularly merry display. Dotted throughout the city’s medieval Old Town, weave through charming wooden stalls brimming with handcrafted gifts, mesmerising decorations and delicious local treats. The unmissable focal point is the colossal Christmas tree standing proudly in the centre, surrounded by thousands of twinkling lights and the sounds of jolly carol performances. Beyond the winter wonderland, Tallinn boasts plenty of history, culture and architecture to discover, paired with excellent shopping and nightlife.
Thanks to the addition of this glittering new destination, this winter marks Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks’ biggest ever Christmas Markets programme, with more destinations and departure points on sale than ever before for Winter 25/26.
In addition to brand-new Tallinn, the companies are on sale with a further eleven Christmas Market destinations for Winter 25/26 – Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Cologne, Copenhagen, Gdansk, Krakow, Malmo, Paris, Prague and Vienna from across 12 of their UK airports (Belfast International, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool John Lennon, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle International).
When booking and travelling to Tallinn on a Christmas Market getaway, customers can choose from a flight-only option with leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, or a package getaway with Jet2CityBreaks, available for a low £60 per person deposit. Package options with Jet2CityBreaks include return flights with Jet2.com including 22kg hold luggage and 10kg cabin baggage, as well as a choice of hotels in central locations.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “With our biggest ever Christmas Markets programme well and truly in full swing for Winter 25/26, we are excited to be adding to the bumper schedule by waving off our inaugural flight to Tallinn today, which will be followed by our first festive flights from a further two departure airports tomorrow. Customers and independent travel agents have plenty of choice and flexibility when it comes to travelling to one of Europe’s top festive hotspots, and with holidaymakers keen to discover Tallinn’s culture, cuisine and Christmas spirit, we know our brand-new flights and city breaks are going to be a hit.”
Eero Pärgmäe, a member of Tallinn Airport Management Board, said: “Today is a truly special day — one we have been working toward for a long time. We have spent years showcasing Estonia as an attractive holiday destination and highlighting the charm of Tallinn’s magical Christmas market. This marks the very first dedicated Christmas flight project from an overseas market, and we are hopeful that interest from British visitors will be strong, helping to grow both the number of flights and UK departure points in the future. These flights have only been made possible thanks to the outstanding team at Jet2.com and our excellent cooperation with Visit Estonia, and we are delighted to see this partnership take flight.”
Jonny Macneal, Head of Aviation at Edinburgh Airport, said: “Christmas has come early as Tallinn is added to our destinations board, offering the perfect opportunity for people to get away and experience the famous festive markets in Estonia's capital. It's a city with charm and history, and we hope passengers take the opportunity to experience it for themselves as these flights get underway.”
