UK consumer champion Jet2 is gearing up for a bumper May Day Bank Holiday weekend, when it will take more customers on their well-deserved holidays over the period than ever before.

The UK’s largest tour operator and third largest airline is reporting record-breaking numbers of customers jetting off to the sunshine from airports across the UK this weekend.

Destinations such as Spain, the Canaries, Portugal, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Morocco all have a busy programme planned this weekend.

The early-May Bank Holiday is often seen as the start of the summer, and with operations ramping up as summer hots up, Jet2 is reporting that it will see a double-digit percentage increase in customers departing between Saturday and Monday when compared to the same period last year.

The company has a huge programme on sale this summer, with a fleet of 139 aircraft taking customers on their holidays from 14 UK airports to destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, Canary Islands and North Africa.

As an award-winning airline and tour operator, Jet2 has a long track record for delivering its Customer First approach, both for looking after customers when they travel, as well as providing assurance to customers when they need it the most.  This has resulted in a host of accolades, such as being recognised as a Which? Recommended Provider status across seven categories, with Jet2.com receiving the accolade for the past 11 years running

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, believes this Customer-First approach makes a big difference with customers: “Looking at the number of people jetting away with us to the sunshine this May Day Bank Holiday weekend, it is clear just how much people are looking forward to enjoying their hard-earned holidays. As always, every single colleague, including our famous Red Team, is ready to look after customers and we know that our level of care is a real point of difference. We are operating our scheduled programme and delivering our award-winning customer experience as normal, and we cannot wait to welcome everybody onboard.”

The latest example of Jet2’s Customer-First strategy came last week, when Jet2 became the first UK airline and tour operator to confirm it will not introduce surcharges on any booked flights or holidays to cover cost increases, for example jet fuel, assuring customers that the price they book with Jet2 is the price they will pay. In an industry-leading move, Jet2 confirmed that it has removed the surcharge provision across all flights and holidays, even though the company has never previously applied them.
