Announcements

We have examined bookings data to look at holiday trends for 2018, and they have turned up some very interesting findings.

By looking at Jet2holidays bookings, we can reveal the up-and-coming destinations for 2018, as well as the most popular family getaways and best city hotspots, as city break bookings become more and more popular.

Looking at booking patterns year on year, there are some interesting shifts in destination choices.

Britons know a good deal when they see it, as bookings to Turkey are seeing a huge surge for 2018 thanks to its range of 2-5 star hotels, rich culture, endless sun and fantastic value. On the back of that demand, we have increased capacity by over 600,000 seats, and have seen a fourfold increase in bookings to Antalya, with bookings to Bodrum and Dalaman more than doubling.

It’s not just Turkey bringing in the crowds. Italy and Croatia are also seeing huge growth, as are the Greek Islands and Cyprus. We are seeing more and more customers looking to explore new and undiscovered regions, which is demonstrated by the growth in bookings to Costa de Almeria and Halkidiki.

There are two Italian destinations making the list of top 10 biggest growing destinations for bookings (Verona and Naples). The top 10 destinations seeing most growth in 2018 are:

1. Antalya, Turkey

2. Verona, Italy

3. Halkidiki, Greece

4. Bodrum, Turkey

5. Naples, Italy

6. Costa de Almeria, Spain

7. Dalaman, Turkey

8. Kos, Greece

9. Kefalonia, Greece

10. Larnaca, Cyprus

When it comes to family holidays, beach breaks are still prevalent with UK families wanting as much sun, sea and sand as they can fit in!  The Top 10 Jet2holidays family bookings destinations for Summer 18 are:

1. Majorca

2. Tenerife

3. Alicante (Costa Blanca)

4. Lanzarote

5. Faro (Algarve)

6. Reus (Costa Dorada)

7. Gran Canaria

8. Fuerteventura

9. Ibiza

10. Malaga (Costa Del Sol)

And city breaks continue to perform well, as Brits recognise the attraction of a quick, easy break to beautiful and historic European cities which are just on our doorstep. The Top 10 destinations according to Jet2CityBreaks data are:

1. Rome

2. Krakow

3. Prague

4. Budapest

5. Venice

6. Barcelona

7. Pisa

8. Palma

9. Malaga

10. Paris

Zoe Towers, Head of Product at Jet2holidays, said “Turkey looks set to be a standout destination in 2018, with bookings really surging thanks to the fantastic value and climate that this beautiful country offers. Our holiday and city break destinations in Italy are also seeing strong growth, as are new destinations like Halkidiki and Costa De Almeria, which are really hotting up with British holidaymakers. Family favourites such as Majorca and the Canary Islands are still in vogue and city breaks are really on the rise as people look for short and great value escapes.

“As the UK’s second largest tour operator, we are answering this demand with increased capacity and more flights from our nine UK bases, offering holidaymakers more flexibility and choice. With thousands of 2-5 star hotels on offer in the most popular destinations, for a low £60 per person deposit, we are responding to customer demand by offering holidays to the places where people want to go.”
