Full-on family fun

With hotels close to lifts, nursery slopes and childcare options, Obergurgl’s fab for families. The kindergarten offers games, exercises on the snow, merry-go-round rides and even snowman building. Kids can also have skiing lessons, if they aren’t quite ready to conquer the beginner slopes with you. After a long day, who’s for fondue or pizza?

Traditional appeal

Thanks to its chocolate-box chalets, dinky shops and handful of restaurants, Obergurgl is as traditionally Austrian as it comes. The village is also home to more blue and red runs, which adds to its classic ski resort style. With sweeping valleys and sharp glaciers wrapping all around, it boasts excellent views to boot.

Off-the-snow quirks

When you’ve done all the ice skating, snowshoeing and curling you fancy, it’s time to visit local attractions. Take a trip up Hochgurgl’s slopes to find the Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum. It’s the highest of its kind in Europe and houses the world’s oldest motorbike, which harks back to 1896!
