Roll out the red carpet! Jet2holidays hotels made the headlines in two different categories at the internationally renowned European Hotel Design Awards 2013, hosted at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London on 19 November 2013.
First up, the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel in Playa d’en Bossa, Ibiza, was the worthy winner of Architecture of the Year: Conversion and/or Extension of an Existing Hotel Building. The five-star Ushuaia Beach scooped the top accolade for its recent Ushuaia Tower extension and stunning conversion to annex the complex with the Ushuaia Club and live music pool area.
Designed by Estudio Villa 13, the European Hotel Design Award Judges said of the hotel that: “The risk-taking and daring concept has resulted in a property that is said to have changed the landscape of Ibiza forever, with an amazing poolside stage, and the soaring Ushuaïa Tower offering panoramic views of the coastline.”
Secondly, the Conrad Algarve Spa in Quinta do Lago, the Algarve was a deserved finalist in the Spa, Health & Leisure Facilities category. The five-star Conrad Algarve Hotel boasts an opulent Spa Sensory Zone with a sauna, steam room, hydro massage heated pool, sensory showers, plunge pool, ice fountain and five treatment rooms.
Organised by Sleeper Magazine, a publication focused on hotel design, development and architecture, the European Hotel Design Awards are now in their 16th year. The prestigious awards have great stature in the hotelier industry, thanks to the rigorous judging process for the finalists.
