Kyle Falconer causes divert for aggressive outburst onboard
Airline bans him for life and is seeking to prosecute and recover costs
Leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, has upstaged the lead singer of Scottish indie band, The View, by offloading him from yesterday’s Reus to Glasgow flight.
Kyle Falconer (29) reportedly became so disruptive that the airline was forced to divert the flight to Nantes in France. Witnesses on board, many of whom were families, saw him being verbally abusive towards a fellow passenger and crew and his behaviour became increasingly aggressive and threatening. French police had to board the aircraft to restrain him and while he was being escorted off the rocker spat at a senior member of the cabin crew.
Jet2.com has issued Falconer with a lifetime ban and is planning to reclaim costs for the diversion. It has also launched a full investigation, alongside Police Scotland, and will be following due process under the law to prosecute.
Phil Ward, managing director of Jet2.com, said: “Kyle Falconer may be a rock star but that is no excuse for such abusive behaviour. Many of the passengers on the flight were families and he showed absolutely no respect for their safety and wellbeing, which is why the captain was forced to divert the flight. Passengers, including famous ones, should be in no doubt that we will take whatever action necessary to stamp out such aggressive and anti-social behaviour on our flights.”
Jet2.com’s ‘Onboard Together’ initiative commits the airline to a zero tolerance stance against disruptive passenger behaviour. So far more than 500 passengers have been refused travel and 58 of these have been given lifetime bans.
