New Routes, Announcements

- Flights start at £75 and Jet2holidays package breaks from £349 per person
- Gearing up for biggest summer yet by starting flying season early
- Plus winter 2014/15 holidays to the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura now on sale

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are getting set for their biggest summer yet at Glasgow Airport – launching another new sun destination, Madeira, and starting the flying season even earlier to meet growing demand for flights and holidays.

The picturesque island of Madeira is Jet2.com’s 23rd direct route from Glasgow, giving local customers even more choice when it comes to next year’s getaway. On sale today, flight-only options start from £75 per person, including taxes, and Jet2holidays breaks to popular resorts including Funchal and the quaint village of Canico are available from £349 per person.

To meet both demand for its new summer 2014 routes – Corfu, Fuerteventura, Reus, Zante and now Madeira – plus increased frequency of flights to popular destinations including Alicante and Majorca, the airline will introduce its fifth aircraft and start its flying season a month earlier than scheduled (20th May 2014).

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Next year is going to be our biggest summer yet at Glasgow Airport so it’s very exciting times. In total we’ll have 650,000 seats available to top Mediterranean and Canary Island hotspots, cementing our position as Scotland’s leading leisure airline serving Europe and giving even more local people the opportunity to experience our great value flights and holidays.

“We’re also thrilled to be expanding our destinations with the addition of Madeira. It is a very popular holiday spot for customers at our other bases so I’m sure it will be very successful with our Scottish travellers.”

Francois Bourienne, Commercial Director at Glasgow Airport, said: “This is yet further good news from Jet2.com which recently confirmed Glasgow Airport will be its largest Scottish base with the introduction of a fifth based aircraft. The airline has continued to respond to passenger demand with the introduction of new routes and services and I’m confident Madeira will prove just as popular as the other 22 destinations it currently serves from Glasgow.”

The new weekly service to Madeira will operate from 26th May 2014 – 27th October 2014. For early birds already thinking about their 2014/15 winter sun break, Jet2.com flights and Jet2holidays packages to the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura are now on sale.
