Travelling with Children

Yes, you can make a booking before an infant has been born. If their name’s unconfirmed, all you need to do is enter the first name as ‘Unborn’ and last name as ‘Baby’. Once the infant’s name has been confirmed, please contact us and we’ll be happy to update the name free of charge.

We allow passengers aged 14 or over to travel alone. Anyone under the age of 14 can only travel if accompanied by someone aged 16 years or over who will take full responsibility for them. We are unable to offer an ‘unaccompanied minors’ service.

We kindly ask that customers refrain from using their own infant seatbelts onboard. Only seatbelts issued by Jet2.com are permitted for safety reasons.

As a family-friendly airline, we’ll always try to seat children and infants under the age of 12 next to their accompanying adults. If this isn’t possible, we’ll make sure children are seated as close as possible, and no more than one row away.  

We encourage you to book seats in advance to make sure you get to sit exactly where you want. If any member of your travelling party has any special requirements, please refer to our Assisted Travel and Medical FAQs.  

All children are entitled to the standard hand luggage allowance free of charge, as long as it weighs no more than 10kg and is no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including any wheels and handles. If their hand luggage weighs more or is larger than this, it’ll need to be checked into the aircraft hold, and you may have to pay an additional charge. They can also bring a small, under-seat bag onboard (no larger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm) such as a handbag, laptop bag or airport purchase, as long as it’s placed under the seat in front of them. 

No. If you’re travelling with an infant, their hand luggage forms part of the adult’s hand luggage allowance.   

If you’re travelling with an infant, baby changing items such as nappies and wipes can be taken onboard, but this will count as part of your 10kg hand luggage allowance. 

If you’ve booked hold baggage for a child on your booking, they’re entitled to the standard hold baggage allowance of 22kg per person.  

Although infants don’t have their own allowance, if you have hold baggage on your booking, we’ll automatically increase your allowance by an extra 10kg per infant, free of charge. That gives you some more room for any extra items you want to check in for your baby. This additional allowance doesn’t need to be pre-booked – our Red Team will add this on to your booking at check-in.

Yes. If you’re travelling with an infant or child, you can bring up to two items per child or infant free of charge, which will be carried in the hold. These can include: a collapsible pushchair, pram or buggy, a car seat or booster seat, a baby carrier or a travel cot. Each item must weigh no more than 32kg, and any extra items (or weight beyond your allowance) will be charged as standard excess baggage. This allowance is separate to our free infant baggage allowance, which you can find out more about here. Child and infant equipment can also be carried as your piece of 10kg hand luggage, provided it meets the dimensions of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm.

If your car seat is for a travelling infant under two years old and is suitable for use onboard our planes, it can be taken onboard. You must pay for a separate seat onboard, which will be charged at the appropriate fare. You can find out more about this here.  

Yes, a car seat and/or a collapsible pushchair and/or a travel cot can be carried in the hold free of charge. This allowance is per infant or child.

Depending on the overhead locker storage space available, collapsible pushchairs that are compliant with our maximum hand luggage dimensions (56cm x 45cm x 25cm - including wheels and handles) may be stowed in the overhead locker. This will count as your 10kg hand luggage allowance. 

You can use your collapsible pushchair or buggy right up to the aircraft steps or airbridge, depending on local rules. Just make sure it’s tagged at check-in. When you land, it’ll either be waiting as you get off the plane or ready to collect at baggage reclaim.

If you’re travelling with an infant, it’s a good idea to carry items such as baby milk (powdered or liquid form), nappies and wipes in your hand luggage. Baby milk and food may need to be tasted or tested at airport security.

Jet2.com is a family-friendly airline and we welcome mothers to breastfeed onboard at any time during the flight, including during take-off and landing. Both mother and baby must continue to observe the seatbelt sign. 

If you need a blanket for some privacy, please bring this with you or speak to a member of our cabin crew who can offer a seat in the galley.

Each aircraft is equipped with at least one baby changing table, which is normally located in the toilet at the back of the aircraft. You can ensure you’re close to this facility by pre-booking your seats in advance. Log in to Manage My Booking to get started.
