With its seafront city walls that overlook the azure Adriatic, Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It’s also perfectly placed for discovering more of Croatia’s Dalmatian Riviera, as the stunning towns of Cavtat, Lapad and Babin Kuk are all nearby. The surrounding Elaphiti Islands add yet more wonder to the waterfront.

Combining the culture of a city break with the beauty of a sun holiday, Dubrovnik Old Town is a must-visit after you’ve landed at Dubrovnik Airport. Wander along the main thoroughfare of the iconic Stradun Street, take in the views from atop the city walls and visit the Rector’s Palace. It’s little wonder the grand architecture makes a magnificent setting for King’s Landing on the Game of Thrones TV series.
There are plenty more places to visit along the Dalmatian coastline too. Cavtat is actually even closer to Dubrovnik Airport, around 6km away, and has a peaceful harbourfront lined with scenic bars and restaurants. You could also visit Srebreno and Mlini further north to enjoy their relaxed atmosphere.
Dubrovnik is a popular destination for cruises, with boats often setting off from the historic harbour at Dubrovnik Old Town. From here, you’ll have the chance to explore the nearby islands in the Adriatic Sea, such as Korcula, Brac and Hvar.
