New Routes

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will wave off their first flight to Santorini from East Midlands Airport this afternoon (Friday 26th May), celebrating the launch of the brand-new route for Summer 23 from the base.

The busy flight will mark the start of the leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator operating weekly Friday flights from East Midlands Airport to Santorini, a picture-perfect destination which features everything from chic bars, stunning sea views and pretty whitewashed towns to swanky restaurants and swish boutiques. These flights will operate throughout the whole of the Summer 23 season until 13th October.

The start of these new services to Santorini from East Midlands Airport means that holidaymakers in the region can access a picture-perfect destination which is on many people’s bucket lists. As well as soaking up the breath-taking views along the caldera, holidaymakers can see the world-famous sunset at Oia, enjoy the local vineyards, or take in one of a number of key archaeological sites, such as ancient Akrotiri, a Minoan settlement preserved under volcanic ash.

Customers travelling on a package holiday with Jet2holidays can choose from a great selection of accommodation which ranges from traditional family run hotels to 5* honeymoon retreats in resorts, such as Imerovigli, Kamari, Megalachori, Perissa, Perivolos and Thira.

The addition of Santorini to Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ Summer 23 programme from East Midlands Airport means the companies are operating to eight Greek destinations from the base this summer – Corfu, Crete (Heraklion), Kefalonia, Kos, Rhodes, Santorini, Skiathos and Zante.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are offering a huge programme for Summer 23, with 32 sun and city destinations on sale from East Midlands Airport. This offers local customers and independent travel agents with unrivalled choice and flexibility when it comes to booking or enjoying a much-needed getaway to their favourite summer destinations.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to see our first flight to Santorini take off from East Midlands Airport today. Feedback from customers and independent travel agents in the East Midlands has been telling us that flights and holidays to Santorini are very much in demand for Summer 23, and we know that Santorini is a destination that customers want to get to. Since putting services on sale to this destination from East Midlands Airport, local customers and independent travel agents have been booking getaways to the stunning hotspot in their numbers. As the UK’s largest tour operator, we are giving customers and independent travel agents in the region unrivalled choice when it comes to enjoying a holiday this summer.”

Steve Griffiths, Managing Director (East Midlands Airport), said: “More choice of holiday destinations is great news as we approach our busiest summer since 2019. The fact that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is adding new routes to places like Santorini shows that demand is strong for international travel this year and bodes well for the months ahead. It also further demonstrates Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ commitment to growing their operation here which is positive for this airport’s offer and their loyal customers.”
