Joanna Hemingway, Data Visualisation Manager and Jenny Henderson-Ross, IT Project Manager at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, have both been successfully shortlisted for the 2024 Women in Tech Excellence Awards.
After being nominated by colleagues as part of the Jet2 Women in Tech initiative, Jenny has been shortlisted as a finalist for both Rising Star of the Year and Transformation Leader of the Year, with Joanna reaching the finals for the Outstanding Returner Award.
Both colleagues have reached the finals for this prestigious awards ceremony which will be held in London on 27th November after being shortlisted from hundreds of nominations from inspirational women representing the technology sector across the UK.
The Women in Tech Excellence Awards recognise trailblazing women from across the technology space and provide inspiration for younger women curious about building a career in the industry. These accolades aim to create more female leaders to showcase the endless possibilities as the sector continues to grow.
Jet2 Women in Tech is an internal initiative designed to attract, develop and inspire women to reach their potential at Jet2 through a series of regular events, communications, recruitment and mentoring workstreams. On top of their respective roles within IT, working on integral projects to develop internal systems to ensure that customers continue to enjoy fantastic holidays and create memories, both colleagues are active members of the group to help empower other women to achieve their goals within the technology industry.
Reflecting on her achievement, Jenny said: “I am so grateful to have been nominated by my peers at Jet2 and to now have been shortlisted as a finalist for two awards is just incredible. I feel really proud just to have got to this stage and as someone who has moved from a legal career to a role in IT, I hope this shows that if you set your mind to it, you can do anything no matter how daunting it may be! I hope to inspire women to put yourself out there, be true to who you are and give it a go.”
Joanna added: “I am honoured to be a finalist at the 2024 Women in Tech Excellence Awards for Returner of the Year after my maternity leave. Being nominated for these awards means a lot as they recognise the importance of showcasing women's personal journeys to encourage more women into tech roles, and I hope to inspire others on how they can balance being a new parent and progressing in a tech career."
