Jet2 plc has been awarded an A- rating by CDP in its latest climate disclosure assessment, a reflection of the company’s leadership and continued commitment when it comes to taking tangible actions to address and measure its climate impacts.

CDP is a global not-for-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system. It is widely regarded as the global benchmark for environmental reporting, with scores recognised by investors, regulators, governments and customers.

Achieving an A- rating places Jet2 amongst the leading UK leisure travel companies for demonstrating strong climate governance and credible transition planning on its journey to Net Zero by 2050, as well as showing measurable progress in reducing emissions across its operations.

Jet2 plc has boosted its rating from B to A- in just one year, by showing leadership and best practice when it comes to decarbonising its operations, as well as setting science-based targets and developing robust plans to reduce emissions in the future.

Recent actions include:

  • Publication of a climate transition plan, focused on existing technologies and tangible actions that can be taken currently. This will see Jet2.com reduce its carbon emissions per revenue paying passenger kilometre (gCO2/RPK) by 35% in 2035 compared to 2019 (43.55gCO2/RPK in 2035 vs. 67gCO2/RPK in 2019).
  • The introduction of new Airbus A321neo aircraft into the Jet2 fleet - offering over 20% greater fuel efficiency and 50% less noise—demonstrating a commitment to sustainable growth, with billions invested in a firm order for 155 of these next-generation aircraft.
  • Improving fuel efficiency from new technology and weight reduction initiatives, such as retrofitting split scimitar winglets onto 70 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, reducing fuel burn by up to 1.8%, and investing in Storkjet, a new fuel efficiency system that is helping to drive operational efficiency and reduce emissions.
  • Increasing the use of electric vehicles, with over 55% of Jet2 owned ground service equipment now electric.
  • Over 22 million single-use plastic items substituted to alternative materials onboard.
  • Over 1,500 hotels now having received a certified sustainable accreditation, giving customers more sustainable accommodation choices with Jet2holidays
  • The installation of Solar PV roof panels fitted at Jet2’s new maintenance hangar at Manchester Airport.

Such actions resulted in Jet2 winning the Package Holiday / Leisure Airline category at the AirlineRatings.com 2025 Sustainability Awards earlier this year.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2 plc, said: “We are delighted to have achieved an A- score from CDP. This rating recognises the considerable steps we have taken across our entire operation to reduce emissions and strengthen our climate strategy. Our commitment remains long-term, ambitious and grounded in real action, and we will continue to invest in the technologies, partnerships and practices needed to support a lower-carbon future for UK aviation.”

Paul Southall, Head of Sustainability, added: “Moving from B to A- in just one year demonstrates the progress we are continuing to make. Transparency, credible pathways to net zero, and collaboration across our supply chain are at the heart of our approach. This result reflects the hard work of teams across Jet2 and our commitment to continuous improvement.”
