Jet2holidays reaches 1,500 certified sustainable hotels milestone
Published: Thu 05 Mar 2026 at 11:30
Jet2holidays has announced that 1,500 hotels in its collection are now classified as a ‘Certified Sustainable Hotel’, meaning that they meet an official standard for sustainable accommodation practices on ABTA’s list of hotel certification schemes.
The company launched the hotel sustainability labelling scheme in 2023, which is one of many tangible actions in its sustainability strategy, and is a key action under the ‘In Resort’ pillar of this strategy.
The scheme allows customers and independent travel agents to easily find and choose accommodation that has achieved a sustainability certification. Examples of areas included in the certification process include reducing energy, water & waste, sourcing products locally, supporting local communities, and using reusable, returnable and recycled products.
At launch, there were 800 hotels in the collection and Jet2holidays has expanded this offering significantly, with over 1,500 hotels now included in its Certified Sustainable Hotels portfolio. As a result of this expansion, customers have even more certified hotels to choose from, meaning they can choose a holiday that is right for them.

Today’s announcement means that Jet2 is on track to meet with its target of having 3,000 properties in its Certified Sustainable Hotels collection by 2035.
To drive this, and to continue promoting the scheme with hotel partners, Jet2holidays has also today announced the created of a new sustainable hotel toolkit, which is being launched to many hotel partners at ITB Berlin this week. The toolkit which outlines more about what Jet2holidays’ Certified Sustainable Hotels label is, as well as the process for getting certification, will support the company’s hotel partners with gaining a sustainability certification. It also highlights the benefits of certification, with real-life hotel case studies bringing these benefits to life.
The toolkit has been created in partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), who operate the Green Key criteria. The Green Key criteria is a leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry.
Paul Southall, Head of Sustainability at Jet2 said: “Our Certified Sustainable hotels collection is a key component of our ambitious sustainability strategy, meaning that customers can easily find and choose accommodation that has achieved a sustainability certification. We plan to expand this collection to over 3,000 hotels by 2035, and the launch of our brand-new toolkit will help our valued hotel partners understand the benefits of this certification so that they can meet the demand from customers who are looking at wanting to make sustainable travel choices.”
