Today marks exactly five years of Jet2 operating award-winning flights and holidays from Bristol Airport.
Responding to demand from customers across the Southwest and Wales wanting to enjoy Jet2’s award winning service when travelling on their holidays, the UK consumer champion first launched services from Bristol Airport in 2021. Since its inaugural flight to Majorca, Jet2 has carried millions of holidaymakers from Bristol Airport on their well-deserved getaways.
Celebrating half a decade of operations, customers and colleagues came together to mark the milestone during a busy morning of departures at Bristol Airport.
The check-in area at Bristol Airport was adorned in red and holidaymakers received a VIP welcome from Jet2’s Red Team. To top off the celebrations one lucky customer was surprised with a free pair of return flights, to mark five years of services by the leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator.
The first Jet2 flight from Bristol Airport departed on 2nd July 2021 to Majorca, marking the official launch of Jet2’s tenth UK airport base. Since the departure of its inaugural flight, the company has experienced continued growth and success, going on to launch other bases including Liverpool John Lennon, Bournemouth, London Gatwick and London Luton.
Jet2 now has 45 destinations on sale from Bristol Airport with two new routes for Summer 2027, Jersey and Bergerac.
For Summer 2026, Jet2 has over 110 flights departing per week and over 1.1 million seats on sale from Bristol Airport, meaning customers and independent travel agents have plenty of choice and flexibility.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said: “We are delighted to mark five years of operations at Bristol Airport and continue to delight customers with our award-winning flights and holidays. Bristol has been a great success and we are committed to developing our flying programme to ensure customers and independent travel agents have a wide range of destinations to choose from. As we reflect on all we have achieved since launching over five years ago, we are looking forward to many more years of success.”
Dave Lees, Chief Executive Officer at Bristol Airport, said: “Over the past five years, Jet2 has become an important and valued partner at Bristol Airport. Since its launch in 2021, it has grown significantly, expanding its destination network and providing more opportunities for customers to take a well-earned holiday, visit family and friends as well as cities for business and pleasure.
“We are delighted to celebrate this milestone and would like to thank the Jet2 team for their continued hard work and dedication in making these customer journeys possible every day. We look forward to building on this successful partnership and supporting further growth in the years ahead.”
