This year’s wet British Summer might officially be over as of today, but rather than having a last of the summer ‘whine’, we are getting some sunshine booked in.
Jet2holidays data shows that searches and bookings to winter sun destinations are on the up ahead of the last day of summer today (Friday 22nd September).
When it comes to a dose of winter sunshine, the Canary Islands are the ‘shore thing’ for Britons, with the most searched hotspots being Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura which account for the majority of winter sun searches.* With year-round sunshine and winter temperatures averaging more than 20°C, in comparison to 5°C-7°C in the UK**, it’s not hard to see why.
Other locations attracting winter sunseekers include Costa Blanca, the Algarve, Costa Del Sol, Madeira, Paphos and Majorca.
