A Captain and his Second Officer daughter, who both work for leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, fulfilled a long-term ambition to fly together for the first time recently on a flight from London Stansted to Tenerife

Brian and Becky Morgan, from Colchester in Essex, made a memory that they will cherish forever after operating the full flight together – a dream that they have had for years.

The moment was made even more special as Brian, who has been a First Officer for Jet2.com since 2016, had recently completed his Command upgrade to become a Captain before flying with his daughter for the first time. Becky joined Jet2.com’s Pilot Apprentice scheme in 2021, after completing her flight training, and has had her dad supporting her throughout her apprenticeship.

Brian and Becky were lucky enough to fly together for the first time after Becky completed her Pilot Apprenticeship, gained her wings, and received her base transfer back home to London Stansted.

Talking about the special moment, Brian commented: “It was fantastic to operate a flight with my daughter, Becky. We finally had the opportunity to fly together on a full flight from London Stansted to Tenerife which was not only a great day out for customers but also a momentous day for us.”

Brian’s successful career at Jet2.com helped his daughter feel inspired when she was considering her career choices. Brian said: “I’ve always encouraged Becky to follow her passion when it comes to her career. Naturally, when I began my flight training Becky also took an interest, so when she announced she wanted to pursue a career in aviation as a Pilot, I was over the moon.”

Becky added: “When my dad started his flight training, I also took an interest and have fond memories of flying in light aircraft together. However, I never saw this as something I could actually do as a job. I was meant to be going to university but wasn’t 100% certain about what degree to do and the career I wanted to pursue. When discussing my options with my family, they were very supportive of me pursuing this career and gave me the confidence to believe that I could achieve anything I put my mind to.”

With the ongoing support of her family, Becky joined Jet2.com’s Pilot Apprentice scheme and started her training. She said: “I was over the moon when I found out I had been successful in getting onto the Jet2.com Pilot Apprenticeship scheme, as it was always my dream to follow in my dad’s footsteps. I also wanted to work for a company I was passionate about and shared the same ethos and values.”

Since completing her Pilot Apprenticeship, Becky has operated over 170 flights, flying thousands of happy holidaymakers to destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.

Both Becky and Brian will be busy taking holidaymakers on their well-deserved holidays this summer, as Summer 23 marks Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ biggest ever programme, with 15.5 million seats on sale. To support this huge programme of flights and holidays, a fleet size approaching 120 aircraft will operate from across ten of the companies’ bases flying to 56 sunshine destinations this Summer 23.

The pair hope to fly together again and take customers to their favourite holiday hotspots for a much-needed getaway. Brian concluded: “We are hoping that our first time flying together will not be our last. It would be fantastic to recreate this memory and once again take to the sky together as not only father and daughter but colleagues!”
